Categorically Speaking is designed specifically for Rotisserie GMs. The information is great for all fantasy baseball formats, but for those of you who could use some help bolstering a specific roto category, this is for you. We're going to pay close attention to players who might be readily available on your waiver wire or who you might target in non-blockbuster trade talks.
It's not too late to find a few home run hitters from the waiver wire. This is the time of the year when players make their final pushes for playoff runs and youngsters get called up to show what they're worth.
Here are three such hitters who have been tearing it up as of late.
Kendry Morales, Angels -- I'm amazed that I still have to introduce this guy to fantasy GMs, but according to ownership statistics Morales is only owned in 71 percent of fantasy baseball leagues. That's just a shame. So, for the last time ... everyone outside of California, please meet Kendry Morales. Morales is finally getting to shine since Mark Teixeira left the first base job empty. Morales is doing admirably. For the season he's hit .296 with 23 home runs. Over the past month he's belted nine home runs while batting .337 and driving in 25 runs. There is no reason why Morales should be sitting on any waiver wire.
Josh Willingham, Nationals -- Here's another guy who you might not be paying attention to because he plays for a
team that doesn't garner a lot of publicity, but you should start paying attention to Josh Willingham. He's only owned in 40 percent of fantasy leagues but has eight home runs and 22 RBI over the past month. He's done all that while batting .333. To put it into perspective, Willingham has had better power numbers over the last month than Ryan Braun, Carlos Lee and Nick Markakis. And he's still sitting on most waiver wires.Garrett Jones, Pirates -- Jones is one of those guys I mentioned earlier who were brought up to show what they've got. Jones seems to have it all; speed and power. In his 93 at-bats so far with the Pirates he's hit .312 with eight home runs, 14 RBI and five stolen bases. Only Kendry Morales has more home runs over the past month than Jones, and Jones is only owned in 46 percent of fantasy leagues. Go grab him while he's hot.
