August is going great so far! I gambled with today's spot start, tabbing Tom Gorzelanny in his return to the majors. Cincinnati has been in a big offensive slump, and hopefully our pitcher can take advantage of it.
For tomorrow, I had two options: Kyle Lohse at the Mets or Chad Gaudin against Atlanta. In the end I'm picking Gaudin, because while he was lit up in his last start, he faces a Braves team that's scored just 19 runs in their last seven games. Atlanta's numbers against righties are in the middle of the pack, but I like Gaudin's chance of having a solid game in Petco Park. With the Mets doing a decent job of scoring runs lately, I'll pass on Lohse's start on the road to roll the dice with Gaudin. We're hoping for six innings, two runs, six strikeouts, and a spot-start win.
