Categorically Speaking is designed specifically for Rotisserie GM's. The information is great for all fantasy baseball formats, but for those of you who could use some help bolstering a specific roto category, this is for you. We're going to pay close attention to players who might be readily available on your waiver wire or who you might target in non-blockbuster trade talks. It's true, you must score runs to win ball games.Instead of being the name of the game, in rotisserie leagues scoring runs is only one-fifth of the battle. It's still a stat category you must focus on. If you're deficient in the runs scored category, take a look at some of these waiver wire possibilities.
Jerry Hairston Jr., Reds - With all of the injuries to the Reds infield, Hairston is seeing every-day at-bats. He's making the most of those at-bats too. Only one player (Carl Crawford) scored more runs than Hairston over the last month. While scoring those 25 runs Hairston also batted .309 with 6 home runs and four stolen bases. He's only owned in 42% of Yahoo! leagues and should definitely be picked up while the Reds infield is on the mend.
Gary Sheffield, Mets - Signed earlier this season for added outfield depth, Sheffield's hot hitting plus some Mets injuries have forced him into a leading role. He's batting .283 on the season with five home runs and scored 21 times over the last month. He's only owned in 27% of Yahoo! leagues but with .338/.476/.569 slash stats over the last month he should be picked up while he's hot.
Denard Span, Twins - Span is starting to flourish at the top og the Twins lineup. He's mixing speed (11 stolen bases) with batting average (.299) to produce solid results. He's also showing a little bit of pop (three home runs) to go along with it. Span is owned in only 67% of Yahoo! league and has scored 19 runs over the last month. In deeper leagues I bet you can find a spot for him on your fantasy roster.
